Mastering LinkedIn Algorithm: 5 Mistakes to Avoid

It was exactly 3 years ago that I was struggling and struggling to get going on LinkedIn. 

I remember I’d post something that I though was profound and yet I would get crickets. 

1-5 likes, 0 to 3 comments (see my screen shot below of when I first started).  

It went on like this for months, I almost gave up. Then I started figuring out how to trigger the algorithm. 

After that my connections, engagement and enjoyment on the platform skyrocketed!

One of the things that plagues people in their business the ups and downs of sales.  

The wild swings can feel like a roller coaster at times, but unlike a real roller coaster it doesn’t feel so great when things are heading downhill.

Unveiling the 5 Money Habits for Financial Abundance

Today I want to share with you some very important Money Habits I learned from a decade of being around some of the wealthiest people in Salt Lake.  

When I was younger, I had NOTHING going for me. I was broke AF, had horrible habits around earning, saving, investing, spending.  

But luckily a friend asked me to come work with him at the Salt Lake Country club where all the wealthy people hung out. 

It sucked at first, scraping dishes, working 10-to-12-hour days and all the holidays, but over time I worked my way up to a server, then bartender, then into leadership. 

You always hear bartending is where it at for building relationships, people drinking into the late hours, sharing all their secrets. 

It was here that I found so many financial and life mentors that taught me so much.

Escaping the Cycle of Poverty: April's Journey to Financial Abundance

Today I have a very cool story to share along with some great lessons that have to do with creating more financial abundance. 

April Shprintz didn't know that her family was poor until another 6-year-old asked her these questions:

"๐˜ผ๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™œ๐™ž๐™ง๐™ก ๐™ฉ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™œ๐™š๐™ฉ๐™จ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™›๐™ง๐™š๐™š ๐™ก๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™๐™š๐™จ?"

"Why are your pants too short?"

"What does your dad do?"

And then it started making more sense. The donated food in the pantry. The trips to the WIC office.

It started to hit home that she was living in poverty and she was determined to do something about it.

At 6 years old she started her first business, selling 'magic blue rocks' that would fix the other kids problems.

That business was shut down pretty quickly after all the other kids spent their lunch money buying them.

But she was hooked! And that set her on a path to escape poverty.

How To Overcome Your Imposter Syndrome

Let's talk about Imposter Syndrome: This is a form of self doubt that literally cripples people and holds them back from sharing their talents with the world.

The best way to describe it is the feeling of "what if they find out I'm a fraud" or "I was just lucky" when you have had success or a breakthrough. 

If you have felt that, you are not alone, and I want you to realize that its actually a good thing because it means you are stepping into new territory. You wouldn't feel it if you weren't stretching yourself. 

10 years ago I applied to a company that was #3 on the Forbes to 100 best places to work (Google was #1).

I was 39 years old and had a negative net worth because my business had just crashed.

At that time there was about 1 to 2 hires for every 100 applicants, and this was only the 2nd job I had applied to in my entire life.

The last job I applied to was in 1991 as a bus boy at the Salt Lake Country Club.

Exposing The Biggest LIE About Money

One of the most damaging beliefs about money is that “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil”. 

If you believe on a conscious or subconscious level that loving money is evil, then you’ll avoid making more of it. 

‘Love of money = evil’ becomes ‘Money = evil’. 

Then your subconscious thinks ‘I don’t want to be evil, so I better stay away from money’. 

After spending a decade with some of the wealthiest people in Utah, I found that there was no truth to that and there are plenty of very wealthy people who do a LOT of good in the world.

If you look up “The Giving Pledge” on Google, you’ll find there is a VERY long list of billionaires that have pledged to give away the vast majority of their wealth to others. 

There’s nothing wrong with money and the more you LOVE it, the more it will love you.
