How To Use Content Marketing To Attract Your Dream Clients

Are you an entrepreneur with an online business and finding it difficult to stand out because there seems to be so much competition? If that is you, don't worry because in today's article I'm going to break down how the most successful businesses are thriving online and how you can to.

In this article I will:

  1. Explain what Content Marketing is as it relates to making money online through coaching, consulting or course creation.
  2. How content marketing allows you to attract clients instead of chasing them.
  3. Helps you make sales 10x easier by building the know, like and trust factor.

In 2020 when I started getting active on LinkedIn and building my business, I had a tiny fraction of the understanding of digital marketing that I do now but for some reason I had this feeling:

Just focus on creating quality content and you won’t have to worry about finding business.

And so, during the Pandemic, I did just that and my first 3 coaching clients came to me with no...

The Future Of Online Business Is Micro Education

Do you remember back in the 90's if you really liked a song, you had to go buy the entire album, just to get that one song?

Pretty soon you had a massive collection of CDs that would get scratched when you'd swap them back and forth at it was impossible to put all the songs you liked in one place.

Then Apple releases the I-Pod and I-Tunes and completely disrupts how we've been doing things and takes ALL the business.

The power shifts from big labels to I-Tunes because now you can buy single tracks and put them all in a tiny device that you can keep in your pocket.

Now you can mix and match, make playlists that you love, AND pay less money.

Matthew Biggar and I share a vision around where education and online business is heading.

'Industrialized' education is a lot like buying a bunch of CD's trying to get a few songs that you like.

Except it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and 4 to 8 years (or more) and is becoming less and less a predictor of financial...

The Simple Way To Make Money Online | Ilyse Craft | Affiliate Marketing

I just dropped an episode with Ilyse Craft, known as the 'Supercoach' on Linkedin and someone who I consider to be a LinkedIn Legend, on something we've both been geeking out on:

Making affiliate income from recommending products and services that you know and love and are already recommending to people; also known as affiliate marketing.

At a very basic level you could make enough to cover or bring down costs of things you are already buying, or you could use it to supplement your business income by taking a more active role in recommending products or services to your clients. And some people create full on passive businesses by using social media to create a tribe around a topic, then connecting those people with recommended products and services.

Benefits of creating an affiliate marketing business...

How to Create Captivating Content for YouTube and Podcasts Episodes

One of the biggest struggles some of my students have is how to create effective content, especially when it comes to long form content such as YouTube videos and Podcast episodes. Don’t worry, I got you covered and will share one of my favorite ‘content frameworks’ that I use for video’s and podcast episodes!

Why is this so important? ICYMI last week I dropped an episode of the High Value Skills Podcast where I share just how important it is to be a part of the Creator Economy (available on Apple and Spotify).

I believe the ability to grow a loyal audience through content is the true decentralized cryptocurrency (done right you eliminate the need for cold outreach).

Cold outreach takes time and honestly can be a pain in the ass. Why not use that time to sharpen your content skills so clients come to you?

I’ll save that convo for a later date, but here’s a 5 part content framework for you to use right now, it...

Build A One Person Business And Do What You Love (The Creator Economy Explained)

We've never had a better time in our history for those of us who want to, can create money doing what we love in life. The key to this is understanding the Creator Economy.

But not much more than 100 years ago during the industrial revolution, for someone to get by, they had to literally become paid slaves to corporations if they couldn't make it as a farmer. People worked 14 hour days in harsh and inhumane conditions, including children.

Reform set in, conditions improved and the educational system was put into place to remove children from the workforce, yet train them to become future employees. For close to a decade, people followed this model of going to school, working hard, then getting a degree, then entering the work force and having a career for the rest of your life.

As the century went on, going to school became less and less predictive of financial success (less relevant) and more and more expensive. 25 years ago, I opted out of higher education because I...

Should I Post Personal Content On Business Social Media Accounts?

Today I want to drop a nugget about creating content on social platforms, because traffic is what fuels your one person business and the most important thing that a person can cultivate in the creator economy.

Probably the number 1 question I get asked all the time is ‘should I post personal stuff on (LinkedIn/Social Media)’?

Such a great question and there’s a few sides to this that may apply to more than just LinkedIn and give you some ideas as far as your overall content marketing strategy. One of my favorite sayings about business, especially as it relates to being a one person business is 'people buy from people, not businesses'.

If you think about some of the best and biggest businesses out there, you may love the overall brand, but it still feels very personal to you. And if you are buying higher ticket items, you probably like to 'know someone' in the industry that is relatable to you.

This is where your personal...

How To Bend Reality And Become Superhuman Like In The Movie 'The Matrix'

Did you ever see the move The Matrix?

The reason I loved this movie so much is there are so many parallels with life.

In the movie, 'the real world' is a simulation perpetrated by AI to keep us distracted and under control.

Not so different from our 'real world' where the media, politics, advertising, social media hacking our dopamine systems to keep us distracted and chasing an ideal reality that never seems to come.

In the movie, the Matrix (the simulation) is a computer program that has rules and boundaries called 'constructs' that keep people prisoner.

In our lives, we have outdated belief systems that we have bought into and work within that also keep us prisoner.

In the movie, during the training scenes, Neo gets distracted by the girl in the Red Dress, a perfect example of how easily we get distracted in life, especially as entrepreneurs. I call this 'Shiny Object Syndrome' and it comes in the way of success because it diffuses your focus and energy.

Here are some examples of...

Why You Should Cultivate High Value Skills In The Modern Creator Economy

There's been a big problem brewing, decades in the making.

This photo is of me 28 years ago when I was a manager at the Salt Lake Country club.

I chose not to go to college because I hated school and couldn't imagine working to pay off loans to do something I hated.

I got my education (partially) from the many wealthy & innovative entrepreneurs that were members here.

I noticed something strange though: many of the bartenders and servers that I managed were college grads that were struggling to find a job in the field they had chosen and bartending or serving to pay off their loans.

Some of them were about to go to college and it felt like they were randomly picking a degree to go into.

I believe at one time it made sense to be intentional about what you want to do and go to college to get a degree in that field, then spend your life in that career.

Part of the problem is that at a young age, its so hard to tell WHAT you want...
