Who Is Simon Parsons?
I was always told “if you want to be successful, you need to go to school, work hard and get a good job”. I hated school and working hard didn’t sound like too much fun…so I never thought I would be successful.
I didn’t realize it at the time but my life would change because my friend asked me to be a dishwasher with him at the Salt Lake Country Club where all the wealthiest people hung out. I told him “I don’t want to be a dishwasher, but can I be a bus boy”?
It was a minor step up from washing dishes to clearing and scraping dishes, but it put me in a position where I could be around successful people who would one day mentor me. I worked my way up to waiter, bartender then manager and became friends with people who had made it in life, and most of them were incredibly kind and down to earth.
Eventually my boss knew I had an entrepreneur in me so he gave me 2 months pay and booted me out because I was too afraid to leave on my own. I crashed hard, went into massive debt and almost went bankrupt.
